College of Food Processing and Storage Technology (CFPST)

The College of Food Processing and Storage Technology runs undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in Food Science and Technology. Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Home Economics, Hotel Management and Tourism. The Brewing Science and Technology programme is expected to take off very soon. At the Postgraduate level, areas of specialization exist in all the Departments. The College is equipped with relevant manpower and facilities to address challenges in food-related matters. Students are trained at various levels to become self reliant and managers of food security issues, participate effectively in small, medium and large scale food processing and preservation, address public and community health issues; become experts in harnessing tourism potentials of the environment for maximum economic benefits and the likes. Graduates from this College are practicing efficiently in Food Industries, Fast Food Centers, Educational, Research Centers, Hospitals, NGO’s, Hotels and Banks etc. Some of the graduates use acquired knowledge to become private entrepreneurs and consultants.

In addition to training, the College is poised to provide leadership and expertise in food research, dietary and nutrition counselling, extension services in food and post-harvest related matters; consultancy, home and child care, designing and interior decoration services, public training and food policy issues.
