Research and Development (R & D)

The University is dedicated to the prosecution of research across all agricultural fields of study at the highest national and international standards.

The vision of the University is to see that the institution undertakes the implementation of its research and extension activities to make them responsive to the needs of the farmers in the mandate agro-ecological rainforest and derived savannah zones in which the University is located.

The Directorate seeks to contribute to the public welfare in the work of the University’s graduates and its staff as well as in the results of its research and extension activities in enriching and advancing agriculture. This Directorate is addressing this task through the University’s endeavours in agriculture, agricultural engineering and allied professional disciplines. Such allied disciplines are:

  1. Agribusiness and Financial Management;
  2. Agricultural Economics, Rural Sociology and Extension;
  3. Agricultural Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Engineering;
  4. Natural and Applied Sciences;
  5. Animal Science and Animal Production;
  6. Biological and Physical Sciences;
  7. Crop and Soil Sciences;
  8. Food Processing and Storage Technology;
  9. General Studies;
  10. Natural Resources and Environmental Management; and
  11. Veterinary Medicine.
  12. The Directorate Continues to disburse the University's research grants in a competitive manner to deserving staff.
