Biography

The new Registrar, Dr. Azubuike Cyprian Nwokocha assumed office on Monday 11th July, 2011 following his appointment by the Governing Council on 18th June, 2011 in an exercise described by many as highly transparent, free and fair. It will be recalled that following the retirement of the former Registrar, Dr. B. N. Adeniji on April 26, 2011, Mr. P. C. Nwaoma was appointed as acting Registrar pending the appointment of a substantive Registrar for the University.

Born on October 23, 1959, Dr. Nwokocha who hails from Omoku, Onelga, Rivers State, began his academic career in Sancta Maria High School, Omoku and proceeded to the University of Port-Harcourt where he graduated with B.Sc. (Education) Economics in 1983. He had his M.Ed. (Management and Planning) in 1988 while in 2009, he bagged a Ph.D. (Economics of Education). It is worthy of note that his higher degrees were also awarded by the University of Port-Harcourt.

Before his appointment as Registrar MOUAU, Dr. Nwokocha had been a two time Registrar, Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State. An assignment he performed with high sense of commitment and integrity.

Dr. Nwokocha is a member of several professional bodies including; Member, Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Associate Member, Nigeria Institute for Training and Development (NTAD) and Member, Society of Educational Administrators of Nigeria.

He is married with kids and has to his credit several publications.
