The mouau debate club champions are back from their recent tournament  as victors,

The Michael Okpara University Debate Club (MOUDC) was founded on the 7th June 2012 by Comrade Ugwumsinachi Chukwuemeka Nwankwo and they had their first outing at the South-South Universities Debate Championship (SSUDC) in June 2012.EzeNwakuba N. of George foreman Team, recorded a feat when he represented the Michael Okpara University Debate club (MOUDC) at the 5th edition of the Nigeria Debate Community Open Championship at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State in August 2017 and emerged the Champion of the Debate tournament.

The MOUAU Representative, Eze Nwakuba N. who won the championship acted as the Deputy Chief Adjudicator in the just concluded 5th All-Nigeria Universities Debate Championship (ANUDC) which held from 20th–28th November, 2017 at Ebitimi Banigo Auditorium, University of Port-Harcourt. In the same vein, Oleh Ugonna Queen, another debater from MOUAU acted in the capacity of a TAB MASTER at the same tournament in the University of Port-Harcourt.

It is also worthy of note; that the Michael Okpara University Debate Club emerged Champions at the just concluded All Nigeria Universities Debate Championship (ANUDC) at the University of Port-Harcourt. Ngwube Stella, won the best public speaking judge, Dinneye Jonadab also won the best debate judge while Onyido Prosper won the second best public speaker awards and these are all members of the Michael Okpara University Debate Club.

The Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike Debate Club will be making appearances at the Pan African Universities Debate Championship holding at the University of Buea Cameroon from the 7th-15th December, 2017 and at the World University Debate Championship from 27th December – 4th January, 2018 at Mexico. It is noteworthy that the last time MOUAU was in attendance at the World Universities Debate Championship; they broke a record by producing the second best public speaker in the world, in the person of Obiyo Daniel CThis is the farthest any African University has ever gone since the inception of the tournament.
