Prof. Otunta, who left here just a month ago, was a strong energetic man who believed in doing things the right way at all times. He was full of energy and brought positive change and reforms to our academic system. He will be sorely missed.
On behalf of the Council, Senate, Staff and students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, I condole with his family, his community, Nkpoghoro Ehugbo, his State, Ebonyi, his home University, the University of Benin (where he was a Professor of Mathematics), and pray to God to give all of us the fortitude to bear the heavy loss occasioned by his death.
May we at this point consider the words of Job, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away, Blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21), and be consoled.
