MAIDEN INDUCTION PROGRAMME FOR MOUAU STAFF CALLS FOR DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT

The Vice-Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Professor Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta has charged new employees to embrace the values, culture and noble concepts of the ideal University worker.

Speaking in a lecture titled “The University Worker” during the maiden induction programme for MOUAU Staff organized in collaboration with CIRCLE INSTITUTIONAL STRENGHTENING PROGRAMME held in the Senator Anyim Pius Anyim Auditorium, Professor Otunta challenged the new workers to protect the image of the University through utterances, actions, obeying rules and regulations and by embracing professional development to improve their competence.

He enumerated the qualities of a University worker to include disciplines, focused, principled, self regulatory, time conscious and unbiased thinking.

Presenting a welcome address the chairman of the local organizing committee and the director of the University Research Directorate Professor Phillipa Ojimelukwe appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for sponsoring the programme despite obvious financial difficulties adding that it is a clear demonstration of the ideal commitment of the Vice-Chancellor to move the University to greater heights.

She noted that the induction of new staff is expedient for stabilizing them in their new environment which involves introducing new staff to key personnel, showing them important places and facilities among other things.

The two day program also featured lectures by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Professor Madu Iwe, the Registrar, Dr. Azubuike Nwokocha, the Bursar, Mr. Ukachi Eluwa and the librarian Mr. Uche Arua.
