LIFTING UP MOUAU: VC, CLERGY CALL FOR RIGHTEOUS LIVING FOR BETTER SOCIETY

Members of the University community have been called upon always to live righteously and abhor all forms of lawlessness in order to have a better society.

This admonition was made during the last edition of ‘LIFTING UP MOUAU’ for the year 2022, held at the Old Matriculation Ground of the University on Wednesday.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe appreciated God for His faithfulness, love, and mercies to the University despite all the odds the academic community passed through during the academic session. Prof. Iwe used the prayer convocation to call on all stakeholders in the education sector to implement necessary measures to stabilize the sector.

The helmsman of the institution decried the high level of stealing and vandalization of some university facilities which has cost the University huge sums for the rehabilitation of such facilities. The VC called on the staff and students to have a positive character change by surrendering to God and showing patriotism to the University. He thanked God for His faithfulness to the University and prayed for a prosperous 2023 for Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU).

In his sermon drawn from Isaiah 60:1 and Proverbs 24:34, the guest preacher, Rev. Prof. Mosy Madugba, challenged the University community to totally shun corruption, noting that it is only when all and sundry forsake lawlessness and live rightly that God can arise and shine His countenance upon MOUAU. He urged staff and students to live godly lives for the expected miracles from God to come through.

Special prayers were offered for the University Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students of the University. Prayers were also made for the ongoing projects in the University and for God’s guidance during the upcoming Christmas celebrations and the year 2023.
