24 MOUAU STUDENTS BAG FG SCHOLARSHIPS

Students of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike are in the limelight again for a heartwarming reason as 24 of them bag federal government scholarships worth N150,000 each.

In a ceremony for the presentation of the award letters to the recipients of the scholarship held at the VC’s conference room, on Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Udo Herbert, commended the federal government for the scholarship. He described it as a reflection of the previous glory days of Nigeria’s education sector when deserving students across the country were regularly granted scholarships to further their education.

Speaking further, the VC applauded the awardees for their hard work and advised them not to rest on their laurels.

In his address at the presentation ceremony, an Education Officer at the Federal Scholarship Board, Paschal Ozowalu noted that the scholarship is part of the federal government’s efforts to encourage exceptional students to put in their best in their studies.

Present at the ceremony were the Management staff of the University, including the Ag. Bursar, Chief Ugochukwu Ironkwe and the Ag. Registrar, Mr. P.C Nwaoma. The Dean College of Education and council member, Prof. Ursula Akanwa was also in attendance.

Some of the awardees include Sunday Ernest (Industrial Technology Education), Uchendu Ogechi Emmanuella (Biology Education), and Sunday Joy Nzubechi (Home Economics Education).
