The Management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike under the proactive and able leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, CFS, wishes to congratulate staff and students of the University for a successful completion of second semester examinations for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The Management commends the staff for their commitment and dedication to duty; and the students for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the examination period.
The Management has, however, been reliably informed of plans by certain elements to interrupt the peace of the campus through wild and unnecessary actions under the guise of celebration of end of the examination and session or cult attacks.
To forestall any breakdown of public peace, the University Management directs as follows:
1. No form of wild celebrations of end of session are allowed in the University today, either by reckless driving, spraying of currencies, or any such acts that are not in conformity with University ethos and culture.
2. All students are advised to vacate the campus, latest Thursday, October 10, 2024 to enjoy their holidays, following the successful completion of the 2023/2024 academic session.
3. No motorcyclist (okada) is allowed on campus today and till further notice. Instructions have been given to appropriate internal and external security apparatuses to deal with any motorcyclist who contravenes this directive of Management.
4. Deans of Colleges and Heads of Department are encouraged to maintain peace and decorum in their Colleges. The Management warns that any College whose students engage in actions that breach the peace of the University will be appropriately sanctioned.
Please, all staff and students are to take note of this Statement by the University Management and be properly guided.
