Dr. Mrs. Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor is the current Registrar of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. She began her administrative career at the university on 2nd October 1995. She rose through the ranks, becoming Deputy Registrar on 1st October 2012; on 1st February 2021, she was appointed Director in the Registry.
Dr. Mbanasor holds the following qualifications:
B.Sc. (Hons) (1994) with Second Class Honours Upper Division from the University of Maiduguri
MPA (2005) from the University of Calabar
M.Sc. in Human Resource Management (2014)
Ph.D. in Management (2021) from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike
Before she was appointed Registrar, Dr. Mbanasor held various significant positions, including:
Head of Personnel Affairs/Human Resources
Head of Senate Affairs
College Officer in various Colleges
Director in the Academic Affairs Directorate (comprising Admissions, Exams/Records, and Students’ Academic Matters Units)
Dr. Mbanasor is a member of several professional bodies, including:
Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU)
Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), former Chairman of the MOUAU Branch
Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administrators (FICA)
Fellow, Institute of Policy Management Development (FIPMD)
Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM)
Member, Nigerian Institute of Manpower Development and Industrial Relations (NIMDI)
She has received numerous awards and commendations from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, and has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to the Registry. Dr. Mbanasor is the Vice-President of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike Women Association (MOUAUWA) and Director of the Women Fellowship of The Master’s Vessel Ministry (MVM).
In 2019-2020, she took up a Sabbatical appointment with Alex-Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu, Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI). She has served as Secretary to various university committees and panels before being appointed as the Registrar. Dr. Mbanasor has received multiple commendations and awards both within and outside the university system. At one point in her career, she was honored as the most conscientious and silent worker in the Registry.
She has attended over twenty-two (22) capacity-building conferences and workshops, both locally and internationally, including ANUPA Conferences and Training. Some of her papers have been published in both local and international journals and proceedings.
Dr. Mbanasor is happily married to Professor Jude A. Mbanasor, and their marriage is blessed with four children: one girl and three boys. In her free time, she enjoys singing, listening to gospel songs, and watching home movies.
