MOUAU STAFF COMMENCE TETFund TRAINING IN ICT

Some staff members of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), selected across its various Colleges, Directorates, and Units, on Monday, commenced a 5-day ICT training programme, funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
The Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) of the institution,  Prof. Gideon Onuekwusi, who disclosed that the training is the first of it’s kind in the University, stated that it was approved by the previous administration, but could not hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking further on the training, Prof. Onuekwusi said that it is aimed at building the staff, who have been selected by Deans, Directors and Head of Units of the University, to be ICT compliant, especially in the areas of protection of organizational and personal data. The ICT boss of the University went further to state that, at the end of the programme, the participants would get the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL), which he said would enhance their global competitiveness.
Mr. Christopher Asielue from Fozy Global Concept, the facilitator of the training programme, said that the TETFund and MOUAU collaboration is aimed at educating the participants to be ICT advanced. Mr. Asielue disclosed that the courses have been designed to start from the basic level of computer to the advanced level, adding that the participants are expected to write an examination at the end of the training.
In her remarks, one of the participants of the training programme, Mrs. Nnenna Ochulor said she hopes to improve on her computer skills after the exercise, for increased work productivity. Mrs. Ochulor expressed optimism that by the end of the training, the participants will be able to secure information on their computers, an ICT skill she said would help them serve the University more effectively.
