I HAVE BEEN A LOVER OF STUDENTS AND WILL REMAIN SO – PROF. M. O. IWE

The Vice-Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe has reiterated his administration’s love for students, stressing that he would continue to support and care for them.

The VC made the reassurance at the inauguration of the 28th Students’ Union Government (SUG) executive and Students’ Representative Council (SRC) members of the University.

During the occasion, Prof. Iwe advised the new executive to always use the proper channel which is the Office of the Dean, Students Affairs to present any issue related to students.

The VC stressed that it is irresponsible to protest without dialogue. He used the occasion to outline his student’s welfare accomplishments.

The University helmsman used the opportunity to invite the new student leadership and the entire MOUAU students to the University’s monthly prayer convocation, ‘MOUAU Prays’, and the quarterly ‘Lifting up MOUAU’. He congratulated both the outgoing and incoming executives.

On his part, the Dean, Students Affairs, Prof. Marc Nwosu Ogbuagu congratulated and appreciated the outgoing executive for their hard work. He reminded them that the opportunity they had to serve as a means of preparing them for higher positions.

Prof. Ogbuagu advised the incoming SUG leadership to shun all forms of vices, including misappropriation and embezzlement of funds. He tasked them to focus on exemplary service to those that voted for them.

The new SUG president, Comrade Smart Ufomba, in his speech, appreciated the Vice Chancellor for granting a free and fair election without the interference of the University management.

Speaking further, Comrade Ufomba urged fellow executives to carry out their duties diligently, advising them to shun all kinds of corrupt practices. He stated his readiness to work in harmony with the university management for the well-being of every MOUAU student.

The highlight of the occasion was the administration of the oath of office to the newly elected SUG executive and 55 SRC members by His Worship, Emmanuel Etiaba of the Abia State Judiciary.
