Support Unit

Brief Description of ICT Support Unit

As ICT support unit we provide technical support and assistance for users of computer

infrastructure and web technologies through the followings ways:

 Enter commands, using computer terminal, and activate controls on computer

and peripheral equipment to integrate and operate equipment.

 Deal with the day to day issues of maintaining a trouble free environment for

effective use of ICT equipment.

 Providing support to staff and students to overcome any difficulties they may be

experiencing e.g. printer failure, poor pc performance, etc.

 Monitor the system for equipment failure or errors in performance.

Notify supervisor or computer maintenance technicians of equipment

malfunctions.

 Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information

confidential.

 Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 Supervise and train peripheral equipment operators and computer operator

trainees.

 Resolves user problems by answering questions and requests

 Update the Senior Network Manager of any potential/serious issues or problems

that need attention.

 Perform daily checks on all ICT equipment to ensure it is in acceptable working

order.

 Maintain computer peripheral equipment such as scanners, printers, smart

boards, and projectors; ensure that these are prepared and ready to be used.

 Attend meetings when required.

 Undertake training as required to enable work to be carried out to a high

standard.

 We provide support services such as student online registration, checking of

results online, printing of works for staff, students and other customers, e-mail,

web browsing, advertising, publications, announcements, networking with various

social media.
