NEW ASUU PRESIDENT, PROF. OSODEKE, VISITS MOUAU VC, GETS ASSURANCE OF COOPERATION

The newly elected National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. V.E. Osodeke, on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe.

Presenting the new ASUU boss to Prof. Madu Iwe, the President of MOUAU branch of the Union, Prof. Chinyere Echendu, stressed that Prof Osodeke’s new post is a daunting one, expressing optimism that the VC would give him the needed support. Prof. Echendu went on to plead with the vice-chancellor to always allow him travel out of the University when the need arises, a gesture she said the immediate past president of the Union enjoyed from the vice-chancellor of his University.

In his remarks, Prof Osodeke thanked the VC for the role he played in the process that birthed his emergence as ASUU president, stressing the importance of peace and strategic cooperation in their tenures as Vice-Chancellor and President of ASUU.

Prof. Madu Ofo Iwe, in his response, expressed delight at the emergence of Prof. Osodeke as the new ASUU president, describing it as a remarkable achievement of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. The elated VC assured the newly elected ASUU president of his cooperation, to ensure the sustainable growth of the University.
