MDCAN VISITS MOUAU VC, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF COLLEGE OF MEDICINE

The idea of the establishment of a Medical School at MOUAU has continued to feature at top-level discussions. This time, it was during a courtesy visit of a delegation from the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), FMC, Umuahia Chapter, to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, on Friday.
During the visit, the leader of the delegation, Dr. Kalu Ulu Kalu expressed hopes that a Medical School would soon come the way of the University. The Consultant Public Health Physician, who described the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia as a partner to MOUAU, assured the Vice-Chancellor that it would provide services to the University’s Medical School when it is established.
Dr. Kalu seized the opportunity of the visit to invite Prof. Madu Ofo Iwe as the chairman of the closing ceremony of the Biannual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of MDCAN, slated to hold on 16th- 19th September, 2021.
Responding, the VC stressed that the cordial relationship between FMC and MOUAU would be sustained, adding that deliberations are still ongoing on the establishment of a Medical School at the University.
